radiantfracture: In B&W, a man with touseled hair wrestles an alligator. Text reads "Wresting with my Muse, obviously" (writing)

Overtired and writing a poem about a jellyfish, so -- same old.

There's a cooking word I'm trying to remember that's something like concatenation or conglomeration but not those. It's lurking in the right rear quadrant of my mental space with a picture of a big pot or dish and some voiceover from a cooking show, though it could also have something to do with baking. The colours associated with it are pale ones. It might mean something like putting a big mess of different things together. It may not exist. Perhaps it is simply a product of my need for there to be such a word.

Any thoughts?
Precision is of little concern.

...I wonder if it's concoction. That seems likely but pointier than I was expecting.

Anyway

carry on

[ETA: if for some reason you feel like joining this quixotic linguistic treasure hunt, I will add that I feel like it starts with con- or comp-. In the meantime, I have used congeries, as suggested by [personal profile] oursin .]

Concoction is the word that comes to mind based on your description but I’ve no idea if it’s the one about which you’re (almost) thinking.

Composite maybe? That's not very appetizing when it comes to foods though, more a technical term...

Commixture? I don't think I've ever seen that in a cooking context rather than just mixture.

Congeries?

[edit] I see already suggested!

I agree that congerie is probably the best option here. I was thinking 'congelée' in French. Turns out that means frozen, and not, as I misremembered, brought together in a jelly like way.

My favorite so far though.

It's an especially good word for a jellyfish poem, I think.

There could be a confit or a compote.

compote? tho i like concatenation better; i associate concatenation with witches. possibly due to overexposure to witches. >_>
