CW: Death
Corey Alexander (@tgstonebutch on Twitter) has died. I didn't know them well -- mostly from Twitter discussion and their reviews and essays -- but I relied on them as an absolutely ethical critical voice about romance, and the loss of that voice feels like a physical blow. They were one of the people about whom I could say "at least this person exists."
On Twitter, I'm following the struggle of their friends to deal with all of the bureaucracy of death, including the extra struggle of not knowing exactly what happened and of trying to get the county to recognize nonbinary gender on a death certificate (ETA: @courtneymilan says that since 2017, by California law, this should be possible, but the software has not been updated to allow this option.)
[ETA: I wish it were for Corey's living self and work, but here is where to donate to their funeral expenses.
Here is a virtual service for them on Friday.]
There is an online guest book here. (I don't know the host.)
